Current News
New Home
Wolf Connection Ranch now has the entire pack in residence! They are all enjoying the increased space at the new property and frequently howl with joy. Vernon G. Wells, in inductee into the Choctaw Nation, provided us with a very special blessing for our new home to begin this chapter in the life of our organization with positive energy.
Even though we have moved, there remains much to be done to achieve Teo’s vision for our new home. We are still working on electricity, drainage, buildings, septic tank, etc. We also will be creating large turnouts, bridging the stream, breaking hiking trails and many other necessary tasks.
Events
Our monthly hike, potluck and fundraiser is the one time every month that we open Wolf Connection Ranch to the public. Visitors can meet our entire pack of 25 wolfdogs, hike with us (or stay behind in the compound) and enjoy a barbecue and pot luck. One of our Staff Members will provide an introduction to our organization, mission and programs, as well as our history and some of the special stories about our animals. Our next event is March 26th from 11am until 3pm at Wolf Connection Ranch. For April we have scheduled a special Earth Day Celebration and Hike on April 23rd. Be sure to come out and meet the pack, both human and animal!
We had a great fundraiser at Wolf Creek Restaurant in February. We brought Maya, Beau and Ayasha to meet the public and also provided photos with them for a donation of $10. It was wonderful to meet so many people who truly support the work that we do. Thank you to all who came out to meet us (despite the wind!) and generously donated. We look forward to seeing you when you visit Wolf Connection Ranch to meet the entire pack!
New Agreements
We are very excited to have signed agreements to provide programs for two organizations that allow us to further our primary objective – to empower youth to fulfill their potential through training and interaction with our wolfdogs. The first is an agreement with Violence Intervention Program (VIP), a program dedicated to interrupting the cycle of violence and enabling people to move forward and realize their full potential. The second is with Penny Lane, one of the largest and most recognized foster care agencies in California. We are currently developing the first round of training, scheduled to begin in February, to support young men and women in their transition to adulthood. These two contracts are an exciting opportunity for us to fulfill our mission.
In addition, in 2011 we have a number of other events for young people. We held a Wolf Camp on January 17 for 12 kids, ages 6 – 8 years old. They got to have a hike and grooming and play time with the pack, as well as lunch. This is just a taste of the program we have in store for our Summer Camps!
We are also planning programs for the Boys & Girls Club in Valencia and a special 3-day camp for Girl Scouts. And this is just the beginning!
